maybe my understanding is wrong, but in my opinion, usually the government doesn't stands for all the people in western countries. However, in China it's totally different. The notion of goverment is deep-rooted in the heart of Chinese people. I have to say that till this moment, we really have a lot of problems in internal affairs( though human rights and democracy is not what we really concern about), but in foreign affairs, the government just stands for all 1.3 billion Chinese people, and that means to attack the government is to attack the Chinese people.

By the way, have western people really thought about why we feel those reports so disgusting? And why we would have such reaction against those reports? And why we believe that those reports convey plot of the western countries? Before 1840, nobody knows what western world was like. In the following 150 years, Chinese people have experienced too much hypocrisy of the western power. So we are familiar with the tactics, and become very sensible.
