Rude Chinese

I have been browsing many threads here and have seen instances of people disagreeing with a position or statement. However, instead of reasonably and calmly discussing the position and why it may not be correct I have seen many Chinese people resort to childish namecalling and angry rhetoric. These rude Chinese are making China look bad.

However, maybe I'm looking at this from a western ethnocentric view. Is this a cultural difference between China and the west where it is appropriate to verbally abuse people you disagree with? Do many Chinese people behave like this in real life or is it solely something that occurs often on the internet?

I appreciate all thoughts or points offered to help me understand this.

It's not something about Chinese tradition

Although I peronally do not approve radical reaction, I would view it as a normal reponse while somebody is insulted. To think what would you react when you are slandered and spitted on face, then your protest were simply ignored again and again. Not all of our Chinese share the same opinion and the same way to solve the problem.  Did you not see many Chinese tried their best to explain the whole thing rationally? How could you say 'Rude Chinese' here?
Can I declare all westerners are arrogant and ignorant?

Rude people

Hi ror!

I am Chinese and I admit that some of the statement in those threads are RUDE. But being rude is one of negative emotional condition belong to human race, not Chinese alone.

I came across a commentary by an Englishman accusing Beijing 2008 Olympic as similar to Berlin 1936 Olympic. We, you and I, had learn what happen in Berlin 1936  Olympic in our history class. May I ask you what exactly meant by these accusation?

There are indeed many other positive commentary made by other Westerner, like if UK people want to boycott Beijing 2008 Olympic, than UK may face a similar menace at London 2012 Olympic. Because UK government went to war with Saddam Husein on a false intelligent report and have killed thousand of innocent Iraq civilian.

Not all of the commentary made by Chinese are rude. Many of them were composing their statement carefully with regard to others point of view. Is it wrong to make a stand for a threat on the unity of your country? Are looting, arson, and killing people legal in your country if done in the name of freedom and human rights?

There are no such a thing like Chinese superiority upon others. We respect others and expect them to do the same.

I am looking for a better relationship between Chinese and others. At least between me and you.

Regards,
sulupot

<P>I am Chinese. I share the same view that some Chinese are a little bit rude, and what they said do not sound like any debates or arguments. But please, I am apologizing for them, because they are really kind of pissed off these days, after watching some many biased reports, and debating with some people who keeping on having stereotyped views.</P>

<P>Just see these threads as emotional threads (I have seen enough from the western side on BBC/CNN's forum, I am really tired...) Please do read some constructive opnions from other rational threads. Thank you.</P>

Question: Do your people and your govt really want to hear our opinions ?

I do agree with the above. Not only Chinese get such angry but also Americans.  I have been sworn by Americans who just misunderstood me. However, Chinese people, let's calmdown and speak politedly even if this kind of group attack can hardly keep us being polite.

<br>Chines people all over the world are extremely angry and many feel extremely sad and cheated by the Western media and the 'bogus' Western ideology(as it is claimed or projected  by the western media and western intellectuals and politicians!) on freedom of expression, human right and democracy, which the Chinese were made to believe, would help China develop and to help the Chinese people move towards better lives.

<br><br>Riots in Tibet and distorted reports (some fabricated!) by western media and the pro-Tibet element's violent action on Olympic torch relay coupled with lopsided reports against China on the torch relay, have made the blood of the Chinese boil over and over! Yes, we are angry, very very angry.

<br><br>While it is not good to use abusive languages, the Chinese have  the right to express their anger here, especially when they have been shut from the western media from expressing their anger and their feeling over the issues.<br><br>'Rude'? I'm not sure. It depends on what you mean by 'rude'. I personally think that western media and many western intellectuals and politicians have been extremely rude to China and the Chinese people on Tibet issues and Beijing Olympics.<br>

That's why I can't even be bothered talking about tibet with them now. They will always be so righteous and act like the justice of peace thinking they are better than us repressed ppl. However,I'm glad that the Tibet issue provided me with an apportunity to see what lies under the cover of their democracy.

When our chinese talk the truth in polite, how do your western media respond, brainwashing, angry rhetoric? But, how do you know that, depending on the inveracious pictures, videos actually showing the Napel police did in their country. Do you respect our opinions? Is that the behavior of the people regard human right in western? Do you  respect to most of the peaceful chinese's human right?
