...Aaaaannnnnd just how the heck did you arive at that conclusion?  Beijing (like most modern cities) has an air pollution problem.  A problem that needs to be cleared up quickly for the games.  Trust me, London will go through the same in 4 years' time.  It's not a harsh judgement, it's reality.  If you don't like reality then go stay at a funny farm.

You know, I think many people are really tired of this China-bashing thing.  It just makes me so sad to realize day by day that the westerners have much to hold against Chinese people.  The saddest part is that they're not only bashing the government, more so, they're bashing ordinary Chinese people.

I just hope that this Olympics thing will get over soon, so that the western media have less lies to make.  Everytime, their so-called "objective criticism" is full of tone of contempt.

I just hope that China could get stronger and stronger...that's the only way to defend itself.

I've quit reading any China-related news from western media.  Hopefully, I can focus on enjoying the Olympics in the coming weeks.

But where is the bashing???  Please point out to me what was so objectionable in the picture, because I really can't see anything worse that what happened in 2004 where people were casting doubt on the Greeks not having their stadium ready in time.

Um... I think the point was more on the headlines under the main video headline.. like pairing something with the Olympics with all the other issues which aren't even related.  Well, it is related if you want to politicize the Olmypics... but that's a different story. (i.e. air quality is not that related to Bush nudging China on human rights)

Famingmonkey, just try to be objective and to become a chinese for 10 seconds. All they're saying about it is bad. lol.. maybe that's just a coincidence, but i'm sure of that..

but, chinese guyz, you should also notice that almost all the news on that page is negative. That's how they get their readers, by using their fears. People want to know  the most they can about what frighten them.. and to be comforted in their opinion that what frightens them is really bad. The US media areparticularly good at this. GOod news is no news!!

there are another reason, why bad news are good news.

Lobby-groups sell you all the time, how well everything is. When you go into a shop, the goods which are sold are allways the best. Nuclear power has no danger, climate change isn´t happening or isn´t such bad, health care is the best ever, you do not have to worry about retirement pension, the government is the best you ever had and so on.

Good news are sold free. Bad news have to be dug out the hard way.

I understand the OP's feeling on this.  It's not so much an outright bashing as it is a decidedly condemning and negative tone, which seems to be used whenever talking about anything China-related.  It just seems like they're almost going out of their way to make sure that readers don't get any type of positive vibe from their reporting on China.  This type of "soft bashing" is often subtle, but really works on a subconscious level.
