Errrhh... how about just about every country in Western Europe and scandinavia?
All these European countries were colonial masters who exploited cheap or free labor (or slaves) and cheap or free resources form their colonies to enrich themselves. They became prosperous when they were still not democracies. Even when they were democracies, they were still exploiting their colonial subjects and their colonies to enrich themselves.

Hence, the prosperity of these countries are not due to western-style democracy.

Before we talk about anything, we should not forget that there are 1.4 billion Chinese people, of whom 0.9 billions are farmers, and most of the farmers still work in a primitive way.

democracy is a big lie.

How can a leader be elected and run the country, before the leader knows anything about the country's top secrets?

take Roosevelt for example, he didn't even know about the Manhattan project before he was elected.

That is why democratic leaders never did what they promised in the election because it will conflict with the country's top secret plan, that he wasnt aware before he is elected.

for example, if there is a top secret plan right now to invade Iran, and Obama or Hillary promised to pull out off Iraq, will they really do it?

America is run by those agencies like FBI, CIA, NED, those agency were not domocracy, and totally secret and totalitarians. they have plan for the USA's future, and plans for total interest of USA. those presidents elected mearly have impact on which direction the country is heading, they are only puppets of these agencies.

What does any of this have to do with Anti-CNN and Media Bias?  This website has become an anti-western rant board and should be renamed Anti-Western(USA)

Try to answer a few questions first and proof me wrong:
- What was your first thought when you read the title "The Flaws of Democracies".?
- Did you even read the thread?
- When you see certain people critizing the democractic system, what was your feelings?

Hmmm, you probably either right from the beginning, or after reading the criticism on democracy thought: "What a bunch of brainwashed propagandists, my holy democractic system is flawless, they must be anti-western, making them criticizing my holy beliefs."

It's not a rant buddy, it's an analysis and discussions of why Democracies are flawed, you can join the discussion proof us wrong. But by coming to this board, this thread, and make such an ignorant comment simply proof to me that you are one of those who can not accept any criticism on your holy beliefs.

And before YOU RANT on, at least I and I don't see other posters in this thread telling the world China is having a perfect flawless system.

Nobody hate Westerners, I do hate hypocrits and arrogant guys who believe they are superior over anyone else, and believe that the whole world should BELIEVE in their holy system too.

Some People already suggested the site be renamed to something like "Anti-western media bias" to accommodate different topics.

Then other topics should be placed in "off-topic" or something similar so we do not lose focus.

Cheers.

I think running a country is much like running a company. Depending on the kind of company the structure of leadership is different. When you have company that is doing production work like distribution centers or just companies with low educated people there is much more hierarchy then when you have a high-tech company who mainly has high educated people working.

You can't say that one of these is better then the other because both structures can work well for their individual situations. They both have there own disadvantages and advantages.

Because I am a western I like democracy but like some people already pointed out it is far from perfect. The biggest benefit is that you can intervene easier when a leader is doing very bad, something that is more difficult when you have a one party government. But this does open the way to populists who just want to gain power by saying what the average person wants to hear. Usually they are easy spotted, personally when someone is promoting less tax you know he is a populist and will probably not be in the best interest of the country. Basically when a politician says what you like to hear then you should not trust him/her.

Isn't it strange that there has been hardly any development on government structures in the last decades? I mean we all know democracy is not a good system but no one is trying to find a system who can perform better then the one we have now. Is this a kind of laziness or a lack of interest from the current people in the government? Or maybe new researches to better governmental structures are just hardly published. I think if some intellectuals put their mind to it there should be a system who can surpass the current system, the whole world is evolving but why not democracy?

A social-democracy hybrid should be considered.

Now I look back to Marxist communist-utopia theory....it's actually too advanced for man-kind to achieve.

well its not too hard, we just have to increase our tax gradualy, untill it reaches 100%
if you increase tax by 1% every year, after about 70 years, we will have marxist communism theory happening
