This topic has been sticky by coolface at 15-5-2008 00:24.

Personally, I don't think China can become a Democracy state. The reason behind this lay within its massive population and its change from communist to democracy. Simply put, China cant uphold a good democracy government. From this point in time, movement such as changing a government can lead to two sides, and the support from other nations. This could seperate China, weakening it and give countries such as US to have complete behind-the-scenes control. This is divide and conquer. Because US have no control over China, they view china as a threat.

And.

Democracy is a way for countries such as US to gain control of other countries politicaly. For all we know, our president could be a "figure head" for the CIA or the US. Meaning, if our president is a puppet for other nations, the problem is that our country, China, is just a slave to benefit the main land of the government controling the puppet. In other words, we could be slaves and not even know it. If China, like many other nations, is divded. The chances are, US will and always be able to uphold its superpower. And become the international police of affairs, for there own benefit.

I think this had been cover a bit there.

A thought.
To those of you, like me, living in the US or Cananda, you would know nothing but what the textbook in school have taught you, the media, AND HOLLYWOOD. UNDERSTAND, that the textbooks are favoring democracy, all the way, and that the media aren't telling you EVERYTHING. Hollywood movies, YES, you heard me. Remember the theory of the fake moon landing of the US? Well guess what? They made movies about it and SPACE, such as Apollo-13, giving off the idea that it had happen, will happen, and is going to happen in the future. And remember the 911 attack on the world trade center? Guess what? They made a movie EXPLAINING HOW it fell, and that it isn't a conspiracy! And what bothers me even more is that, THEY SHOWED THIS IN SCHOOL.

Conclusion, our freedom is only limited to what we know, and what we don't know won't hurt us. But for everything that we know is a lie, we are never free. Hence the term, "Stupid Americans".

I don't know what to say.
Human Right  is a big word to me ,also a sensitive word to me !
I just got a news accidentally. A black man , Sean Bell , was shot in New York in Nov 25,2006.
He is 2 years older than me ,and died 2 year ago with about 50 shots.
How can the police officers do that to a person ,moreover a person without a gun .
Unfortunately on April 25, 2008, all three of the police officers indicted were acquitted on all counts.
Can you believe that ?
Some western countries are always declaring that their countries are democratic countries ,and they always criticize other countries' lacking of it . I wonder wheather they really have the so-called Democracy  and Human Right in their countries .

Each country has its own problems , and China never interferes in the internal affairs of other countries . Our government has its ability to solve our own problems .
Our country is a developing country and she needs to learn more from the developed countries . And I hope western media treat us fare and with less prejudice and I also hope westers understand China more as well as our people and our culture .

As you said, the topic of so called"democracy" is hijacked by a branch of people. If the Chinese goverment brings the democracy and human rights to Chinese' life, I guess a lot of negative effects will occur. You need know that China has a population of 1.3 billion which means a lot of ideas exist. And personally, i think democracy and human rights is not a topic that everybody can talk about. If we bring it to the table, many country like US,UK will be attacked like many westerners did to China. We Chinese really don't want be like that.

When the Western colonial master rule its colony, he would say that the colonial subjects are too dump to practice democracy. So the colonial master rules. The colonial subjects have no say at all. They just have to obey.

When the colonial master is leaving for whatever reason, he will say that the colony must now practice full western-style democracy knowing very well that these former colonies of theirs cannot become strong prosperous and peaceful under western-style democracy.

And the colonial master is happily laughing at the deterioration of the 'model colony' (Sri Lanka) into one of the poorest and chaotic countries on this planet!

The same story has been written  all over the world. The Philippines (2nd most prosperous country in Asia has become one of the poorest on this planet!); Pakistan, Countries in the Carribeans; Countries of Latin America, etc. etc.

The most interesting story involves  our dear Michael Gorbachev who was tricked by Uncle Sam to start his prestoika and glasnost. Uncle Sam and its allies were laughing all the way behind the scene while they enjoyed watching the chaos that followed and the downfall of  USSR!

And... our dear Michael Gorbachev  was given Nobel Peace Prize! For initiating the great fall and chaos of USSR!

The USSR was bound to collapse anyway, regardless of Pestroika and Glastnost. The economy was weakened from over half a century of closed doors.

who told you that? we do cherish the democracy and human rights. those are what we have fought for and been working on that for very long time.

the difference is that chinese are doers and not talkers. just look back to the history: 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago..  we have walked long way, had fought many battles to get where we are today.

now, a new battle against the western media terrorism, it is what china faces in nowadays. but nothing would stop china moving towards better future, that include the development of economy, democracy and human rights.

War is not peace. War is not freedom. War is not human right.
Short, simple, and to the point. Repeat often.
