to our dear friends
I am a common young Chinese woman who is living and working in a small city of this country. I knew this website from TV news. I am not very good at English, but I still want to come to this English version forum to say something to our foreign friends.Friends. Yes. Chinese people, remember what we were taught in our kindergarten, primary school, middle school, high school and college? Remember what is said in our textbooks? Remember what is said in our TV and newspapers? In China everyday we are told all foreigners are friends.
I still remember, in the history textbook or historical movie they said France is the first Western country showing kindness to the newly established PRC; French people are very friendly to China. In the past 26 years, I always thought French people are so friendly, so kind, so nice, so sweet……The French government and leaders are so enlightened……I liked France, great nation, fabulous people, amazing movies……Until now.
And I also remember, in many movies we were told that people from USA helped us a lot in the battlefield of world war II.
But, look at how our friends are being educated by their TV, their newspapers and their websites! We cheated ourselves for so many years. We are so kind, so ignorant and so innocent.
I feel so sad. I was hurt, deeply and totally hurt. How can they do this? How can they say so without knowing the truth?
But, how could this happen? I guess, maybe one reason is most of Chinese people can not speak English or other foreign languages. It’s difficult for Chinese people to learn letter languages. We don’t have enough and good communication with international people. We can not express our idea, can not explain what happened, and can not show the truth in a good way that accepted and understand by the whole world. CCTV-9 only introduces the culture and landscape of China. It’s not enough.
And for the same reason, we Chinese people don’t know much about our foreign friends. Most of us are not able to read their newspapers, can’t watch their TV and view their websites. That’s why in the past tens of years, we didn’t know actually they are not so friendly to us as we thought of them.
I am glad to see at present more and more young people can speak English very well. I hope there will be more chances to exchange ideas between China and the world. I hope there will be some door to let foreigners know China, to understand China.
About Tibet, I don’t want to say anything about the truth. If I should, I would say only to our foreign friends: Come to China, come to Tibet, to know the truth by yourselves. Maybe you don’t trust what we said here, so please, go to trust your own eyes and ears!
Tibet people are our sisters and brothers. They are the members of this family. If they need help, other members will try their best to help them! If they need money, other members will give them! If they are in danger, other members will be there to fight for them! If they need support, other members will stand back of them!
The people who are shouting “Free Tibet”: when you shout, have you ever asked for the opinion of most of Tibet people? You didn’t! You didn’t know anything, didn’t do any research, didn’t make any try to find out the truth, but just shouting.
And the people who are slandering our government: listen, it’s China! The government you are talking about is not some one’s administration. It’s all Chinese people’s administration. When you are slandering it, you must realize you are against this nation. Maybe sometimes we are not satisfied with some policies of our government, maybe sometimes we are complaining. All of these are because we have much expectation on our government. We Chinese people know very well what our government did for us in the past tens of years, know very well how our life was improved. I myself, and the people surrounding me, trust this government, be with it and will never betray it! We do not allow anyone to libel it!
Yes, we have many shortcomings now. But remember, PRC is just a young republic of 50 years old. This nation has been open to the world for only tens of years. We need time to improve and I believe we will get better and better.
Dear friends, we appreciate your kind suggestions and comments on the development of our country. We welcome the criticism if we did wrong. But pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease, pleeease, respect our feeling, respect the truth, respect this nation. You should have learnt how to respect people from your parents and school.
I love my country. Really……sooooooooooo much……

Dear friends, I just want you to know the feeling of a common Chinese. How should I do to make you understand?
In China, our TV, our newspapers, our magazines are not allowed to insult any government or any nation. Our government wants all Chinese people to show friendliness to our foreign friends. However, could you please, my friends, act as you are in civilization when you are talking about our nation? After all, some of your countries entered modern civilization society almost hundreds of years before.
