中国一直在试图创造美好的幻象。但是奥运会里的假笑骗不了人。

2008年奥运会正在对中国以及世界的公众创造着一个幻象。美好而又失真。而整个奥运会的意义都完全被扭曲了。在开幕式，我们看到是这个全球的节日就这样被狭隘民族主义所操纵。

中国政府的宣传机器开过了头。花钱如流水，雇佣了大量平庸的演员来创造这个另类、扭曲的现实。它得到的是这个国家媒体和公众的虚假掌声。来自国际奥委会和联合国的官员们通过称赞此次奥运会的成功和环境的改善而参与到这个阴谋中。

到底在这个承诺已久的非政治性的体育盛会上发生了什么？任何关心真相的人应该远离政治，但是奥运会却在欺骗。北京期望展示这座城市的发展与和谐，于是乎农民工就被大量的驱逐，就因为他们贫穷，低收入，而且还被看作是潜在的不安定因素。

然而，正是这些工人，这些带有社会主义特征的奴隶，一砖一瓦的建起了那些地标建筑。为了所谓的美观，甚至小商店都要关门歇业，还有那些自由市场和音像商店也是一样。在过街天桥上看到的标语-“北京欢迎你”还有“人民的奥运会”显得如此沉重。

中国的媒体机构被告知他们只被允许报道运动会上体育项目的成绩，而被禁止报道出现的任何问题和纰漏。而且，他们还不能批评政府发出的那些被漂白过的声明。我们如何能说如此被政府干预的奥运会是‘非政治化的’？

投入如此巨大的资金来控制公众观点看起来是这样的夸张。这个国家有着可以用廉价的手法制造或者假冒任何东西的盛名。“中国制造”的产品现在充斥着世界上每一个家庭。但是我们这个巨大的国家有个小问题，那就是我们不能制造出人民的快乐。

这可不是一个便宜的东西。实实在在的公众满意是不能被盗版或者复制的。不论我们的政客们花多长时间去命令人们唱颂歌，不论多少烟花撒向夜空，也不论他们拥抱了多少外国政客，他们都无法激起人们真正欢愉与庆贺的情绪。他们得到一个真实的微笑的难度和他们保持蓝天白云一样难。

公正与公平，真实与人性都不能被模拟，被控制。那些参与开幕式的人不过是创造着一个虚无。他们用电脑绘制的焰火脚印来作假。他们操纵一个无辜的儿童来假唱那首爱国歌曲。这些人简直就是无耻。奥运组织者最近公布了他们闭幕式的主题。他们告诉我们说那将是关于”情感”和”友谊”的，而那还将是一个快乐的夜晚。他们能骗的了谁？

The 2008 Olympicshas created an illusion of China to the public and to the outsideworld. It is so fantastic, so unreal, that the entire meaning of thegames is being distorted. At the opening ceremony we saw this global festival manipulated for the sake of narrow nationalism.

Thepropaganda system of the Chinese government went into overdrive, publicmoney was spent like water and ranks of mediocre performers wereemployed to create an alternative, distorted reality. It received fakeapplause from the country's media and public. Officials from theInternational Olympic Committee and United Nations also collaborated inthe deception with their comments on the success of the games and theimprovement of the environment.

Whatever happened to thenon-politicised festival of sport that we were promised? Anyone whocares about truth should avoid not politics, but Olympic lies. Beijingwants to show off how progressive and harmonious the city has become,so it has expelled migrant workers because they are poor, underpaid andseen as a potential source of insecurity.

Yet it was theseworkers – these slaves with socialist characteristics – who laid everybrick and tile of the modern urban landscape. For the sake

ofappearances, even the small shops they frequented have been shut down,along with many street markets, video outlets and clubs. So much forthe slogans on the bridges and billboards that read "Beijing welcomesyou" and "People's Olympics".

China's media organisations havebeen told they are only allowed to report the sporting achievements ofthe games. They are forbidden from covering problems or squabbling.They cannot criticise the cliched, rose-tinted statements of theauthorities. With so much government interference, how can anyone saythese Olympics are not politicised?

It is absurd that so muchmoney has been wasted on manipulating public opinion, on simulatingemotion. This nation is notorious for its ability to make or fakeanything cheaply. "Made-in-China" goods now fill homes around theworld. But our giant country has a small problem. We can't manufacturethe happiness of our people.

This is not something that comescheap. Real public contentment can't be pirated or copied. No matterhow long our politicians order people to sing songs of praise, nomatter how many fireworks they launch into the heavens, and no matterhow many foreign leaders they embrace, they cannot arouse a genuinemood of joy and celebration among the people. It is as difficult forthem to get a real smile as it is to keep the sky blue and the cloudswhite.

Neither fairness nor justice, neither reality norhumanity can be simulated or manipulated by wires or remote control.Those who staged the opening ceremony stopped at nothing to create afantasy. They faked the footprints of fire with computer graphics. Theyexploited an innocent child by making her lip-synch to a patrioticsong. These people are shameless. The organisers recently announced thetheme of the closing ceremony. They tell us it will be about "emotions" and "friendship", that it will be a night of joy. Who are they kidding?
